3 ways to practice self-care when you work from home

It is time to start living the life you have imagined – and you can start it from home! We are sharing 3 ways to practice self-care when you work from home because we think it is essential to your mental health and we know that self-care does not need to be expensive or newly reinvented.

In fact, how beautiful would it be if we can refill our cups with the ordinary? We have prepared some ideas for you in this post, so equip yourself with something to write and get inspired.

Practice self-care by creating a morning routine

Create a morning routine that is meaningful and works for you. Waking up early helps boost your productivity level and yes, we know how tempting it can be to sleep in when we don’t have to jump buses and commute to the office. But there is something magical about the early hours of the day. To create a meaningful morning routine, get in the habit of reading for just a few minutes every day. The constant growth of the mind will change how you think, act and feel. In case you are having a morning where your mood could be better, write down three things you are grateful for because focusing on gratitude can calm you down and change your feelings.

Set up your workspace and create to-do lists

In other words, it means getting yourself ready for work. You don’t need to wear business attire, but get yourself out of Pyjamas and into comfortable clothes like the Isimi set or the Sway mini. This physical change gets you mentally ready to shift from personal to work time.

Set up your workspace to be a distraction-free space for yourself complete with a desk and chair. It is always a wonderful idea to work from your bed or couch (cue the sarcasm)… please don’t!

Actively make time to eat healthily and exercise (even if it’s just a 10 minutes Pilates workout on YouTube). If you are a creator, make time to create things for fun. If you need something else to calm down from work think about what you liked to do as a child. May sound silly, but activities like dancing to a song, doing a handstand, or discovering nature, frees the mind and create lightness within us. You are always your motivator especially when you are working from home. Starting by creating a list of the things that need to be done is key. Make one for your private tasks and one for work. When you feel overwhelmed, just prioritize what can be moved to the next day. You can start with planning your meals (weekly meal planning and prepping come in handy here). For a lot of work tasks that need to be done in one day, it often helps to prioritize in three categories: urgent, important and can be done later.

Actively put effort in socializing in real life

Be intentional about going out to hang out with friends. Working from home can be so boring and lonely and we even forget that the real world exists and you have people in your corner. Plan to go for dinner with someone once or twice a week to have face to face conversations, to be able to hug the person, to do non-digital activities together – shortly, real life meetings is what we need as human beings.

Love,
