On a flight, I found myself scrolling through in-flight movie options and settled on a film titled Young Woman and the Sea.

The movie told the story of Gertrude Ederle, affectionately known as Trudy, the first woman to swim across the English Channel. But it wasn’t just her record-breaking achievement that moved me—it was her journey. Trudy was a sickly child, often underestimated and told what she couldn’t do. Yet she defied every odd, including societal norms, physical barriers, and doubters, to pursue her dreams.

As I watched, I couldn’t hold back my tears (yes, I was that person crying on a plane!). Her courage and resilience struck a deep chord within me.

After the movie, I felt inspired to create a design that would embody Trudy's unstoppable spirit. I began researching and eventually settled on a concept that visualizes a woman swimming, with the blue and teal tones mirroring the ocean’s colors—a tribute to the waters Trudy conquered.
This print isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about empowerment. I want you to wear the Queen of Waves Print knowing that nothing can stand between you and your dreams. It’s a reminder to face challenges head-on, with determination and grace, just as Trudy did.
